I have been having trouble. I started knitting that cowl, which I admittedly hate doing. However I felt guilty not working on it, so I avoided sewing too. Yes, very nonsensical. Tonight I got a good thirty minutes in and 3 quilt blocks sewn!
This is my second French Roses quilt. My first was blogged about here. I still like to look at that first one. It is so pretty. This one has a little more blue in it. I'm not sure I like it as much, but I think it will wind up very nice. This was a nice time chunking project. Hopefully I can get thirty minutes and three blocks done tomorrow as well.

Katy Cowl and a Craftsy special
I have soldiered on knitting. A very nice Ravelry.com member reached out to me and pointed me in the direction of the Katy Cowl.
I know, what is up with the picture? That Vogue envelope looks crazy! But yes, I also have Vogue 8815 coming up.
I am making it as part of Craftsy's Plus Size Pattern Fitting and Design with Barbara Deckert. From what I have watched so far, there is a ton of pattern and fitting information for those of us with wobbly bits. She really goes into a lot of information on grading patterns up to fit anyone no matter what size. I am especially looking forward to the rounded abdomen and rounded upper back videos ( I prefer Dowager's Hump as it makes me feel so Downton.) Also, there is a tutorial to make your own dress form using tape and paper. She also teaches you to make three variations on the pattern: a work version which resembles a button down blazer, a lady that lunches version which looks Chanel and a play version which looks like a zip up jacket with slot seams. I can't wait to make that one!
But wait! There's more! The good people over at Craftsy are offering Stacie Thinks She Can readers the class for only $29.99. Thanks Craftsy! If you are not particularly interested in this class, check out Craftsy anyway. If you sign up for their mailing list, they will send you great discounts on classes and updates on new ones coming out.

Brain Surgery and Knitting practice
It has been slow going this week. I have worked on two projects.
First up, my first go at brain surgery. It was rough going, but now Monkey's brains have been stuffed back in his head. They were falling out, and this is after all, my assistant's favorite toy.
Yes, it is that important. Here they are napping together.
And, now the knitting. I have been assigned 10 rows a day and just about made it minus yesterday. I did extra during Downton Abbey though. So my second knitting lesson is tomorrow. Where should I go from here? Can anyone suggest easy and quick patterns for me to try? I feel like with all the time knitting this week I should have had a blanket by now! BTW, I am staciethinks on Ravelry.com!

The Social Knitwork
OK, I can't take credit for the title. The Social Knitwork is where I took a beginner's knitting lesson with my friend Kelly today.
I very obviously don't know what I am talking about or doing, but Chris (spelling?), was a very patient teacher. She taught us to knit rows and cast on. She also taught us how to fix the mistakes we made over and over. My homework is 10 rows a day until our second lesson next Sunday.
The store is located in Old Town Spring, about 20 minutes North of Houston. There seemed to be a nice selection of yarn and tools, but I don't know enough to tell you what anything was. She also hosts a lot of classes for what seems to me very reasonable prices. So that's it for my first vague post about not much for 2013! :-)
